Karl Wilbers (born in 1964) studied Business Education at the University of Cologne, with a focus on Industrial Business Administration and Organizational Theory. He initially worked at the Research Institute for Vocational Education in Crafts at the University of Cologne and later at the Chair of Business and Social Pedagogy. After his tenure at the University of Cologne, Karl Wilbers moved to St. Gallen, Switzerland. There, he first worked as a junior lecturer in Educational Management/Business Education and later as a project manager. He obtained his habilitation in St. Gallen and was appointed as an Assistant Professor. Since 2006, Prof. Wilbers has been the Chair of Business Education and Personnel Development at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.

His research focuses on personnel and professional development, didactics and e-learning, as well as quality management and university development. Prof. Wilbers holds several positions at FAU, including being the Dean of Studies in the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences and leading the Chair of Business Education and Personnel Development in the Faculty of Economics.

Since 2015, Karl Wilbers serves as the spokesperson of the FAU Training Center for University Teaching (FBZHL).
